Purpose Statement

The job of IT AV (Audio Video) Specialist is done for the purpose/s of supporting and administering all district AV systems and technologies be they analog, digital or mixed.  The position is specifically responsible for helping to move all systems to sustainable standards, while collaborating and communicating with district stakeholders.

 

This job reports to Director of Information Technology or Designee

 

Essential Functions

Responsible for the AV operation of all district systems.  Said systems may be analog or digital or mixed technologies.

 

Responsible for the research, implementation and advancement of procedures for AV problem solving of all digital, analog or mixed AV systems and technologies.

 

Responsible for the implementation and advancement of all new and emerging AV technologies and systems for the purpose of meeting department and district wide needs.

 

Assumes lead, co-lead and/or as a team member for the purpose of carrying out duties on behalf of the department for the functions of; collaboration and facilitation, technical expertise and support of technologies in general and AV technologies specifically.

 

Responsible for the integration of all AV technologies in all environments throughout all locations where the district has an identified business need for the purpose of improving work efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Interacts with any and all district stakeholders for the purpose of providing excellent customer service, cultivating supportive and informative relationships and training, and technical expertise.

 

Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing technical assistance and support for all district AV technologies and systems.

 

Supports the coaching of AV technology use everywhere the district has an identified business need for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective use of district AV technologies.

 

Supports all AV technology tasks, projects and initiatives everywhere the district has an identified business need for the purpose of providing direction, advice and support.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

 

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing pertinent AV, application, operating system monitoring and troubleshooting hardware, software and systems; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform some numeracy and algebraic functionality; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: current, legacy and emerging AV systems; environments and network protocols; system configurations; Inter/Intranet applications; concepts of grammar and punctuation, understanding and adherence to appropriate security and privacy guidelines.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and utilize equipment under a variety of conditions for multiple purposes. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 20% walking, and 40% standing.  The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.

 

Experience:  Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is                   required.

Education:    High school diploma or equivalent.
