Salary:  $3,625.00 (total compensation)

Purpose Statement  

The job of Site Athletic Director- High School is performed for the purpose/s of providing leadership and direction for the high school's entire athletic programs with specific responsibilities in communication, supervision, evaluation and also working collaboratively with site as well as district leadership to ensure that students, parents, staff and community all are provided a positive athletic experience within the Paradise Valley Unified School District.  

 

This job reports to Site Administrator or Designee

 

Essential Functions

Three years experience as a teacher & high school coach preferred along with current CPR and Basic certification.

 

An earned baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.

 

A valid Arizona teaching, administrative or supervisory credential authorizing service as a secondary level teacher, administrator or supervisor.

 

Knowledge of:

Methods, techniques, procedures and strategies concerning the development and maintenance of effective interscholastic sports programs.

 

Policies, regulations and procedures pertaining to interscholastic sports & special project activities.

 

Sports interest groups and organizations within the local community and the greater metropolitan area.

 

Modern trends pertaining to interscholastic sports and related activities.

 

PVUSD mission and organizational values.

 

AIA and Title IX rules, regulations & legal requirements.

 

Ability to:

Analyze and assess site interscholastic sports programs needs and offer recommendations pertaining to program revisions, additions and/or deletions.

 

Participate in the evaluation of the site interscholastic sports programs, special projects and activities.

 

Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability controls.

 

Communicate effectively orally and with written communications.

 

Work collaboratively with others inside and outside of the organization.

 

Establish and maintain effective organization, community and public relationships.

 

Effective and timely communication skills with stakeholders.

 

Facilitate coaches meetings.

 

Coordinate athletic facilities usage for school.

 

Develop athletic schedules and report event results to the AIA in a timely manner.

 

Order and purchase athletic equipment and supplies for school.

 

Hire, supervise, educate and evaluate coaches and the school equipment manager following PVUSD HR policies.

 

Oversee risk management and safety issues regarding athletic programs and facilities.

 

Administrate home athletic competitions per AIA bylaws.

 

Work collaboratively with the school administration, the district athletic director, the other PVUSD school athletic directors and the athletic trainer.

 

Serve as spokesperson and role-model for the school within the PVUSD athletic program.

 

Direct the school's athletic program and assure that all athletic practices and procedures conform to PVUSD and AIA policies, regulations and guidelines.

 

Other Functions

Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records; applying curriculum and instructional techniques.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization’s services.

 

Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 40% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

 

Experience:  Job related experience is desired.

Education:    Bachelors degree in job-related area.
