Purpose Statement

The job of CE Childcare Associate V is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the Community Education program within assigned site with specific responsibility for designing, organizing, directing and teaching the activities of the Mascot Club program at the school site; planning, organizing and supervising the duties of the staff; and participating in providing the holiday and summer camp programs.

 

This job reports to CE Childcare Coordinator

 

Essential Functions

Achieves satisfactory inspection reports for the purpose of meeting the requirements of the Child Care Licensure Division of the Department of Health Services.

 

Adapts classroom activities for the purpose of accommodating children with special needs.

 

Attends regular staff meetings and meetings with the CE Childcare Program Manager for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.

 

Communicates with teachers, parents, staff of the host school for the purpose of serving as liaison between Community Education, parents and host site staff.

 

Completes a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually for the purpose of meeting mandated requirements per Department of Health Services regulations.

 

Designs activities of the Mascot Club program for the purpose of organizing, directing and teaching the activities at the school site.

 

Maintains accurate records (e.g. student enrollment and attendance, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date information and/or historical reference in accordance with established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.

 

Monitors staff and program for the purpose of assuring conformity to Arizona Department of Health Services, and the Office of Childcare Licensure regulations.

 

Monitors equipment and site facility for the purpose of ensuring the equipment, bathrooms, floor tiles, lights, etc. are in safe working order, and arranging for repairs or replacement when needed.

 

Oversees students and staff for the purpose of assuring their safety.

 

Participates in providing the holiday and summer camp programs for the purpose of enriching student experiences in appropriate curriculum and recreation.

 

Performs personnel functions (e.g. interviewing, evaluating, supervising, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and achieving objectives within budget.

 

Plans lessons and activities for the purpose of enriching student experiences in appropriate curriculum.   

 

Prepares logs, reports, and documents (e.g. monthly lesson plans, supply lists, behavioral/accident reports, etc.) for the purpose of assisting with record keeping for the site, conveying information, providing written reference, and/or meeting mandated requirements.

 

Procures necessary supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items needed to carry out planned program activities.

 

Supervises site instructors and support staff for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall grant objectives.

 

Trains and monitors department staff regarding quality indicators of the National School Age Care Alliance for the purpose of ensuring adherence and familiarity of its regulations.

 

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; controlling and motivating students; preparing and maintaining accurate records; using pertinent software applications.

 

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: stages of child development; age appropriate activities; positive reinforcement techniques; health standards; age appropriate activities/behaviors; methods of instruction and training; administering personnel policies.

 

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a department, large work unit, and/or across several small work units; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and some fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 55% sitting, 20% walking, and 25% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

 

Experience:  Job related experience is desired.

Education:    High school diploma or equivalent. 

Equivalency: Must meet staff qualifications to be a facilities director under Section  R9-                       5-401 of the Arizona Administrative Code. Applicant must provide                                 written documentation of one of the following:

                       A. High school or high school equivalency diploma & completion of at                             least 6 credit hours in early childhood, child development or closely                                 related field in an accredited college or university or 60 actual hours of                            instruction.

                       B. N.A.C., C.D.A., C.C.P, or C.P.C. Credential & at least 18 months of                              childcare experience;

                       C. Minimum of 24 credit hours from an accredited college or university,                          including at least 6 credit hours of course work in the areas of early                               childhood, child development, or closely related field and 18 months of                            childcare experience.

                       D. Associate degree from an accredited college or university in the areas                        of early childhood, child development or closely related field & 6 months                          of childcare experience.

                        E. Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in the areas                        of early childhood, child development or closely related field & 3 months                          of childcare experience.
